Scars
Scars develop when injuries to the skin extend below the basal cell layer. The skin then produces a replacement tissue. Normally, a scar is slightly lighter than the surrounding skin, but melanin can seep from injured cells into the new cell tissue. Then the scar becomes darker.
For dark scars, we recommend using Uneven Skin Tone.
